Quick Lion Painting

I keep trying to make the perfect safari themed nursery art. My all time favorites are still the ones I did for my son but this guy is pretty cute too.

Fishing Art Print

This is one of my favorite paintings. It currently hangs in my art studio. I'm happy to tell you that it can hang in your home too. I finally got around to getting a good quality scan so I can make prints of it. You can find them here.

Elephant Nursery Art

When I drew this cute little elephant I thought he needed a pal. So I drew another elephant but I drew him from behind. I call them Elefront and Eleback. You can see him and his pal here. I think they would be perfect as nursery art. I love safari themed nurseries. They are great for a boy or a girl so if you are waiting to find out the gender you can still get the room ready. When I was pregnant with my son I did a safari theme. I still love it.

People seem to love this drawing so I have made him available as a print here. http://fineartamerica.com/featured/elephant-nursery-art-christy-beckwith.html?newartwork=true
I hope you love him too!

Illustration Friday: Mail

Muffy always missed the mail. She just wasn't as tall as the other dogs.

This painting has been hanging in my house for some time. I love it. It reminds me of my dogs and their constant vigilance for things like squirrels and mailmen. I swear a robber could break into my house unnoticed if there were a squirrel on the front porch. (Please don't try it. I have nothing of value I promise).

If you love this image and would like a print, you can order one here.

Carl

Carl is not amused by the present conversation.

Want to bring Carl home with you? He is available here.

Marcus the Lion

Marcus approached everything with a certain air of superiority.

If you would like to bring him home with you he is available here.

I feel like I should say that the names and descriptions I put on my paintings aren't meant as a reflection on anyone I happen to know, that shares that name. I do the painting and look at the character I've made and then give them a name that I think fits them. So if your name shows up, don't be offended. I wasn't thinking about you when I made them.

Elephant on a Wire

Sometimes things like this just happen. It's best not to ask how.

More Christmas Card Action

When my friend, Andrea asked if I'd be willing to create a custom Christmas card for her and her husband, Dre I could hardly contain my excitement. I know they would be open to a fun, creative design and some experimenting on my part. I took the opportunity to put into practice some of the new things I've recently learned in Illustrator. I could not be happier with the results. They loved it too!

Christmas Card

I just dropped off the original artwork for Kuiper Orlebeke's Christmas Card. I sent the files to print last week and they were so happy with the final product that they decided to buy the original painting to hang in their office. It was great working with them and I'm very happy with the result.

Illustration Friday: Savour

Clarence didn't feel bad about helping himself to a little turkey. He knew how to savour his meals unlike the rest of the family.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Salamander

I have another realistic pen and ink drawing for you today. This little guy reminds me of my childhood. One particularly wet summer my brothers and I caught several spotted salamanders at my grandma's house. When she called us in for lunch we left the little critters in a bucket in her entry way. When we finished and looked back in the bucket all but one of the salamanders were missing. We looked high and low and found a few of them. Two or three of them never reappeared. I'm not sure my grandma ever found out we had inadvertently released salamanders into her house. She'd probably laugh about it now.

They call me "Puffy"

I had a cavity filled last week Tuesday and my face has finally returned to it's original size. The dentist isn't sure why but after I had the cavity filled my face puffed up and became very painful. They first thought it was an abscess but they couldn't find one. Then they thought it was a hematoma but I didn't have the characteristic bruise. It took two dentists to decide that I either had a reaction to the anesthetic or I have a needle track infection. Either way I am once again a statistical outlier.

Francesca

I did my first art sale this week. It went well and I learned a LOT. People really seemed to love my hand made cards and little paintings on canvas. This cute little cow is still available. I call her Francesca.
