Illustration Friday: Spent

I've had the flu for the past few days and have a 7 month old baby who also got sick. Between being sick myself and taking care of a sick baby I am SPENT! All I can say is thank goodness for Grandmas!

Daily Doodle: The Bird is the Word

This is the original drawing of a blue bird that I sent to Kim of My Favorite Things Rubber Stamps when she asked if I could draw a realistic bird. He got modified a bit and ended up in this lovely stamp set.

Illustration Friday: Spooky

I can't think of anything spookier than howling coyote skeletons.

When I was in middle school my friend and I begged our parents to let us spend the night in a tent in the woods. Everything went great until the sun went down and this unearthly noise started echoing all around us. Our minds raced wondering what horrible thing it could be. Ghosts? UFOs? Around midnight we decided to make a break for it and spent the night inside. It turned out to be nothing more than a couple coyotes having a conversation. Those howls at night still give me the chills.

Who's That Girl Greatest Hits

The lovely ladies on the My Favorite Things Design team are doing a tribute to Who's That Girl this month. It is always so fun for me to see what other people do with my designs. Pop on over to  My Favorite Things blog to check out their amazing creations. As an added bonus Kim is offering a little discount on all WTG sets. Now is the perfect time to add to your WTG collection or buy your first one!

Peter possessed a poets heart but his pursuit of perfect punctuation remained hopeless.

Daily Doodle: Dating

Clarence hated dating. The conversations always felt so stilted.

Daily Doodle: Surfing

I've heard the best way to learn calculus is to go surfing. I guess I'll have to try it and find out.

Daily Doodle: Basketball

Turtles can't dunk or dribble but they're such good sports sometimes the other team lets them win.

Illustratation Friday: Transportation

My topic was picked! I'm very excited about that even if they did spell my name wrong. I spell it with a y not an ie. Oh, well there are a lot of ways to spell Christy and they are all correct to somebody.

Generally I try to do a brand new piece of work for Illustration Friday but today that isn't possible. I'm leaving for Ann Arbor to go wedding dress shopping with my great friends/collage roommates. My friend that is getting married has cerebral palsy and keeps a funny and informative blog about the challenges of getting married with a disability called Disability and I Do. I've always thought she should put her dog to more use. She could go up steps, off road and through mud puddles. Are you reading this Melissa? We are getting Taden Marie a saddle!

Daily Doodle: ArtPrize

If you haven't been in Grand Rapids for the past two weeks you may not have heard about ArtPrize. It is the largest award in an art competition in the world. For the past two weeks downtown has been flooded with people and not just the "artsy" type but families, grandparents and normal average Joes. Over 1700 artists entered and the public chose their favorite 10.  Tonight is the end of voting on the top ten so in honor of this amazing competition I give you my version of an ArtPrize tourist. He voted for Beili Liu and so did I.

Illustration Friday: Beneath

You may think there is just grass and earth beneath your feet but if you look a little lower there's a party going on.
